Chemical Engineer Opens Learning Center After Seeing Her Kids Improve

–With a degree in chemical engineering and 10 years of experience working in the industry, Hui Zhao had a wonderful career, but yearned to do more for her community. After seeing the impact the Kumon Program had on her children’s academic performance, she walked away from her engineering career and opened Kumon Math and Reading Center of Shoreline-South.

“I enrolled my children in Kumon three years ago because I heard a lot of success stories about the program,” said Zhao, owner and Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading of Shoreline-South. “I’ve seen first-hand how the curriculum and the routine of the Kumon Method benefits children, and I look forward to being a part of that process.”

The Kumon Method empowers preschool to high school aged children to become self-learners and is designed to advance math and reading skills while fostering a love for learning. It goes beyond traditional tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently through a carefully crafted curriculum.

“We are fortunate for the opportunity to expand in the Seattle area with the addition of Kumon of Shoreline-South,” said Larry Lambert, vice president of franchise recruitment at Kumon North America. “As parents continue to seek out education opportunities outside of the classroom, we are looking forward to bringing the Kumon Method to even more families in the community.”

Kumon sparks critical thinking, establishes a pattern of success and builds confidence that can lead to accelerated learning throughout life. Learn more about the Kumon franchise opportunity today.
