Longtime Kumon Center Assistant Pivots to Center Owner

Mother of Two to Unlock Potential of Students in the Novato Community

Huiyu Wu

– When Huiyu Wu moved to the United States from China nearly a decade ago, she had to leave her job working with students in an after-school program. When it came time to look for a new job upon her arrival, her goal was to find a position that would allow her to work with children in a similar way. She sent her resume to the nearby Kumon Center, where Huiyu was subsequently hired. That was six years ago. After several successful years of fostering a love for learning through the Kumon Math and Reading Program, it came time for a new opportunity. Huiyu had previously realized that the Novato community she called home was lacking a Kumon center. She had enjoyed getting to know local families over the years, and yearned to make those same connections in the community where she lived. Just a short time later, she is officially the new owner and Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Center of Novato.

“I was inspired to open a Kumon Center after I witnessed many students achieve their goals at the center I spent six years working at,” said Huiyu Wu, Instructor of Kumon of Novato. “The Kumon Method is proven to unlock the potential of students, while not limiting them to their grade, as well as foster self-learning ability in students of all ages and skill levels.”
